Make Sure You Clear Your Plate Before You Leave The Table!
How many times did you hear that growing up? If you were lucky, you heard it a lot and hopefully you continuously remind yourself of the inherent lesson in this message. Don't be wasteful. Ok, but why mention it as part of Keeping It Real? How can it be applied to achieving my goals and getting results?
Simple! When was the last time you looked at your employee benefits package? Most companies spend a large amount of time and commit a significant amount of resources in constructing a competitive benefits package to attract and retain their employees. Most large companies offer a large range of non-salary based benefits that include items such as flextime to foster a better work/life balance to full tuition to assist with the cost of a college education.
What is interesting is that a large percentage of the employees don't take full advantage of the benefits. They are not cleaning their plates.
Investing time to understand your employee benefits package could prove to a very wise step. Set up time with your company's human resource representative and learn how to sign up and start benefiting from your benefits. Once you understand what is available you are now positioned to take advantage of the opportunities right in front of you and change your results. This my friend is clearing your plate and not being wasteful.
